Solutions to the barriers of communication
There are many different ways that people can reduce the
impact of the barriers of communication, one of the barriers for general
communication included the use of terminology and an easy
way to reduce the impact of this barrier is to improve your vocabulary by
reading often, another solution to this barrier would be to try and focus on
the key point that you are trying to explain and check regularly to ensure that
the person you are trying to communicate with understands. Another way to
reduce the impact of this barrier would be to research your audience before you
address them and ensure that you are clear with their age and ability to
understand you. The barrier of technology can also have a big impact on
communication but this impact can be reduced by training people in the use of
technology that is being frequently used to communicate.
A barrier from Interpersonal communication would be the
barrier of background noise but there are many different ways to reduce the
impact of this barrier, some of these are, using instant messaging instead of
loud conversations that can distract people and you can also close doors and
windows if noise is coming from outside your office but if the noise comes from
within your office then you can use a form of partition which could be used to
discourage people from chatting within the office and this could make
conversations easier to have but if the partition was unsuccessful then the
meeting could take place in another room.
Written communication barriers will mainly refer to
documents not being structured properly and spelling and grammar errors
confusing people but there are ways to reduce these barriers and some of these
ways are to take time when writing your letters or emails and constantly check
throughout the document for errors using spell check or if the document has
been handwritten then you can have friends or co-workers to check your work for
errors. If you struggle with the structure of your document then you can use
headings and sub-heading to show what you are talking about in each section and
paragraph and this will ensure that when presenting your document that people
will be able to understand it, if you still have trouble structuring your
document then you can download a template off the internet and use it as an
example if it fits what you would like to structure the document as.
